1. Camera
If you create a video surveillance system, you have two options: an IP camera or an analogue system. An IP camera is often the preferred option due to its compatibility with most devices. Different types of cameras can be installed, including domes, bullets, and hidden cameras.
Choose cameras based on the desired viewing angles, the number of cameras needed for a given area, and the required resolution or level of detail.
2. Monitoring Station
The monitor is perhaps the most essential function of a CCTV camera: viewing recorded images. The number of monitors needed depends on the area being monitored. Three to five screens are sufficient unless you are working with a large-scale system. However, if your needs alteration, you can easily add or remove monitors at any time, depending on your camera’s compatibility.
3. Cables & Routers
Depending on the type of CCTV system and the cameras you choose, you will need supporting technologies such as cables and routers to integrate them into the system and ensure a smooth connection. For example, wireless systems require a router, while wired systems do not.
So once you have selected your cameras and monitors, choose the cables and wires that suit your needs.
4. Video Recorders
A video recorder is a device that processes video recorded by a camera for storage and viewing. There are two types of video recorders: DVRs (digital video recorders) and NVRs (network video recorders). You can learn more about them here.
5. Data Storage
The quality of your CCTV system depends on the hard drive on which it is stored. The CCTV system’s storage device must ensure uninterrupted recording, storage, and playback of video from various sources. Regular PC and laptop hard drives are not suitable for storing CCTV data. Therefore, choosing a reliable storage system for safe data storage is extremely important.
